Rural Remedies Programme

Supporting young children between the age of 9-13, who are still showing signs of struggling but do not yet meet the criteria of statutory service thresholds

Reasons for referral

They may be showing social-emotional behaviour difficulties, which impact their ability to fully engage in activities and environments where they would be expected to socialise. Some may have poor resilience resulting in difficulties expressing and regulating

emotions, and present as angry or withdrawn. They could appear tired due to disrupted sleep patterns, be showing changes in appetite or presenting with behaviour that could put themselves at risk.

Referrals can be made by parents, carers and others who have concern for the child (provided parental consent has been sought).

Description of the service

We recognise that many children and young people’s mental health and long-term well-being declined during the Covid 19 pandemic and its associated lockdowns.

We aim to instil a sense of belonging, resilience and emotional regulation by using a combination of animal-based therapy and the outdoor environment during the sessions and in doing so, it is hoped that the need for further statutory interventions will be removed.

Sessions are 1:1 (but could be a small group), person-centred, and solution focussed, aiming to equip the young person with a toolkit of strategies to help them cope with everyday demands, if you feel we can help or would like further details and information about this service please contact us:
