About Future Roots

For Young People

Future Roots is based on my small farm. It is designed to offer you many learning opportunities to identify your strengths, what you are good at and what you enjoy.

We try to work at your pace at all times but sometimes the animals take the lead. We do a lot of animal care activities, but the farm can teach you many transferable skills and qualities that different employer’s value. You can also do a variety of recognised qualifications that might fuel your interest. We generally work as a team in small groups but can offer one to one support when you need it or when you first arrive.

Young people who have been part of Future Roots say they feel safe here and that is really important to us.

Since 2008 we have watched many young people aged 8-18 turn their lives around, becoming comfortable with who they are, knowing what they want from life and most importantly finding ways of feeling happy and feeling part of a bigger picture.

There are several songs that I think all young people should listen to and most of them show my age but if you think you might come to Future Roots then it’s good to know them because at some point it’s likely you will hear them!

If you read Alfies blog as an introduction to Future Roots you might be able to tell;
Although we know no one is perfect all of the time at some point you will find someone who thinks you are.
