The Dog Days of Summer

Ahh, summertime!

I just love the sunshine; it warms the cockles of my heart and gives me a new leash on life. I am even willing to dip my paw into the stream and have a little play in the water-feature catching bubbles.

There have already been some great days meeting new young’uns on the farm. Some of them are just brilliant, although not everyone loves my way of welcoming them. Personally, I think introductions are important and one of my staff at the farm will usually lift me up so I can see them eye-to-eye. It’s difficult for me to be noticed because I’m quite small. It really makes me hot under the collar, so sometimes I make lots of noise to be noticed. But that can give people the wrong impression…I’m sure some of you know what I mean.

We had our open day in July and lots of people turned out even though it was raining. I was driven down the farm in the car to unload in the morning and then watched what happened from the dry. Sometimes it’s good just to watch, especially if you might get your paws trodden on when there are a lot of people about. Everyone was happy that day, even the sheep who looked mighty strange without their winter coats on. It was like they had been on one of those celebrity crash diets. Still, all’s wool that ends wool.
