Unwoofable

Well at last I’ve got the strength back to write. I’m sorry I haven’t blogged for a while. Been poorly. Not run of the yard poorly, not a cold poorly but proper poorly. Have to go to the vet poorly. Serious stuff.

Try this for a tongue twister – Spondylosis deformans. That’s what the vet said was causing me unwoofable agonising pain along my back.  It was seriously bad, I couldn’t dig, couldn’t climb stairs, couldn’t get onto the sofa, couldn’t shake rats, I couldn’t even chase the postie. At one point it got so bad I stopped barking. About Christmas time it looked bleak and Julie-mum was really worried. The vet kept me going with painkillers and all kinds of disgusting medicines.

Then I had a holiday with family to Centre Parcs – it was great. The smell of squirrels drove me mad but I really rested – I had to I was on a lead for my walks and while there I decided not to let my painful back get the better of me. Now I am home and I am still feeeeeling good. I have told everyone several times (now I feel like talking again) how good I feel, I sing “I feel great da na na na na I knew that I would” to everyone who comes to visit but I get the feeling this week they are getting stressed with me. When I was down and sore I got so much love – gentle strokes and cuddles but everyone looked worried. And now I get lots of people frowning, fewer strokes and shown the door, and am even told to sing outside. Sometimes these two legged beings are never happy.

So I am trying to learn something from such a horrid time – it has made me realise what being in pain does – it makes you grumpy and unreasonable. I have really learnt that we need to think and be gentle around those who are hurting, they need all the patience we can find.

Thank you everyone who was nice to me when I was ill, thank you for asking how I was and for making me feel special when I was feeling sorry for myself.

Meanwhile enjoy springtime! I’ve really enjoyed the new lambs arriving. And for those of you with good memories last year we had a lot of worries with BD (shaky hairy disease) but so far, paws crossed we’re clear.

Hope you like the attached photo… I am hoping they will become my new friends but they aren’t keen about my singing just yet as I think you can tell from this picture.
