Accredited Vocational Training for the Hardest to Reach Young People.
Future Roots has a strong track record of engaging some of Dorset’s most disenfranchised students through strong partnerships with mainstream schools, special schools and learning centres.
We work with young people with challenging behaviour who are at risk of becoming NEET when they leave school. Many are at risk of exclusion or have already been excluded. Despite this, we are able to progress 88% into further education, employment or training.
One or two year courses, accredited by either City & Guilds or AQA, are offered in land-based operations (agriculture, horticulture, animal care).
All of our activities are enterprise-based, so there is a real sense of purpose and achievement. The courses provide health and safety inductions and taster sessions in the following:
- Preparing land
- Planting and growing
- Maintaining plants
- Transporting supplies
- Structures and surfaces
- Tractor operation
- Animal care
- Movement of animals
- Dry stone walling

- Outdoor clothing and footwear should be worn.
- We are not currently able to host wheelchair users at the Whitfield (Dorchester) site, but are working to remedy this.
