Future Roots has received a grant award of £5,316 from Dorset County Community Fund – a fund managed by Dorset Community Foundation on the behalf of Dorset County Council. The project will allow us to run a care farming session once a week for older women who live in rural parts of Dorset. The new service compliments The Countrymen’s Club, our project for older men from farming communities.
The fund has been set up by Dorset County Council to build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector and parish and town councils in order to deliver stronger services and support for local communities. Dorset County Community Fund will support new and distinct parcels of work, which must have a start and a finish date, a budget as well as specific outcomes and outputs.
Past funding rounds distributed over £600,000 to over 140 charities and community groups across Dorset. Other funded projects vary from volunteer training schemes to, building works and grants for equipment.
Dorset Community Foundation is one of the biggest grant making bodies within the county – having distributed over six million in grants over the last ten years. The Foundation manages funds for local companies, local authorities and high net worth individuals. Further details can be found at www.dorsetcommunityfoundation.org
